Hey everyone!

Well five years ago I had the chance to work in New Zealand. I applied to a working holiday visa and I lived there for almost 8 months. To be honest, it was a great experience.
Since today we have to talk about cultures, I have decided to share with you what things caught my attention when I lived in Auckland.
First, when I got there I remember that I saw people and met people from all over the world. Which was at the beginning a little bit frustrating. I really wanted to meet New Zealanders!
Actually there was one time that I was walking down a really nice street and I heard some Chilean people saying some bad words, you know the Chilean way...

So I decided to talk to them. They told me that in Auckland (downtown) it is really hard to meet people from there. Most of the people that live in that city are students from different countries or people that applied for a working holiday.
I did not like this at all! I could not believe that I would not talk to native speakers. After a week or so, I was so happy about meeting people from countries that I would never thought I would have the chance to meet in my life.
I met people from Egypt, Puerto Rico, Iraq, Croatia, China, Japan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, India, England, South Africa, Zimbabwe and others.

The Indian people that I met were so different from what I was expecting. I thought they would be really religious and they were not. I mean they were Hindi but they used to eat meat! I was so impressed. I thought how can you it a cow! It supposed to be sacred. But they told me that at least them, do not follow that rule. They used to eat Mc Donald’s a lot.
Then the Saudi guys I met were Muslim. So again I was wrong about my ideas. They did pray every day but they used to party every single day. They used to drink a lot, smoke (cigarettes and weed), and other kind of drugs.

Talking about something different now, I do not know if you have heard about Eid. Well it is a religious celebration. My arab friends told me that during an entire month from 6:00 am until 20:00 I think or so, they were not allow to drink, eat or smoke anything. Then at nights they went back to normal hahaha. That was kind of funny, they were acting like crazy at night and then when it was amost 6:00 am they were praying again.
